Russian River Valley Pinot Gris
93 Points: Beverage Dynamics, November 2014 (2013 Russian River Valley Pinot Gris)
The third in a string of outstanding vintages in the Russian River Valley, 2014 got off to an early start. The absence of significant weather events meant grapes ripened evenly in a mild growing season that remained temperate for its duration. Throughout the season, the Valley’s hallmark fog intrusion allowed grapes in our estate vineyards to retain vibrancy and desirable low pH, translating to expressive, fruit-forward Pinot Gris with outstanding breadth and lift.
Our MacMurray Estate Vineyards Russian River Valley Pinot Gris has an expressive, perfumed nose and offers layered aromas of white flowers, Asian pear and baked apple. Signature white peach, ginger and dried fig notes appear on the palate, where a rich mouthfeel softens refreshing acidity. The lingering finish is polished by satin-like texture in a wine that will enhance with age.
